Different Treatments, Different Approaches

The options on this page work differently. Sculptra and hyperdilute Radiesse are discussed as collagen-stimulating treatments. Selphyller is a plasma gel option made using the Selphyl system. Your consultation covers the preparation, treatment area, and expectations for the specific option being considered.

What We Offer and How Each Agent Works

01 / Poly L lactic acid, Sculptra

Poly L lactic acid, Sculptra

A synthetic, biodegradable polymer supplied as a freeze dried powder, reconstituted with sterile fluid, left to hydrate, then injected into the deep dermis and the layer beneath. The particles trigger a low grade, contained inflammatory response, fibroblasts produce type I collagen around them, and the particles are metabolized to lactic acid and cleared. It suits diffuse volume loss across the temples, cheeks, and lower face rather than one crease. Typically a series spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart.

02 / Calcium hydroxylapatite in hyperdilute form, Radiesse

Calcium hydroxylapatite in hyperdilute form, Radiesse

At standard concentration this is a volumizing filler. Diluted with saline and lidocaine it behaves like a stimulant instead: the calcium microspheres spread thinly through a broad subdermal plane and scaffold new collagen and elastin without adding contour. It is the tool where skin quality, not shape, is the complaint, including the neck, chest, arms, abdomen, knees, and a jawline that has lost crispness. Usually a series of three.

03 / Selphyl PRFM and Selphyller plasma gel

Selphyl PRFM and Selphyller plasma gel

LouWellSpa uses the Selphyl system for PRFM, primarily Selphyller plasma gel (heated PRFM). Tear troughs and the tired-eye concern, "I look tired," are a focus of the consultation. Your provider determines whether this option is appropriate for you. Learn about Selphyller plasma gel.

PRFM is also offered for intimate and sexual wellness concerns. See Intimate Wellness.

Preparation starts with a blood draw and processing. Selphyller plasma gel includes a heating step. Your provider explains the preparation used for your treatment, its risks, and alternatives at consultation. Results vary and no outcome is guaranteed.

Who This Is For

Biostimulation fits the consult form concerns whose answer is skin quality rather than shape:

  • Overall thinning and crepiness of facial skin, where filler would look placed and resurfacing does not reach deep enough
  • Diffuse volume loss across the temples and cheeks, especially after significant weight loss
  • Neck lines, chest wrinkling, and loss of firmness on the arms or abdomen
  • Under eye hollowness and darkness in patients who are poor candidates for filler in that area
  • Hair loss or thinning, where follicles are still active
  • Acne scarring and uneven texture, usually combined with microneedling or other resurfacing

It is a poor fit if you want a visible change this week, if you cannot commit to a series, or if you want one defined area corrected precisely. Those are jobs for dermal fillers, and your provider will say so.

Plan the visit

How It Works at LouWellSpa

  1. Consultation and honest sorting

Your provider decides whether your concern is a volume problem, a skin quality problem, or both, because that determines which agent fits and whether a biostimulator is the right category at all.

  2. Plan and series

You get the agent, the number of sessions, the interval, and the total cost of the full series before the first appointment, not one session at a time.

  3. Photos

Standardized photos in fixed lighting at baseline and each session. In a category this gradual, photographic comparison is the only reliable way to see change.

  4. Preparation

Sculptra is reconstituted and hydrated ahead of time, Radiesse is diluted at the point of use, and PRFM begins with your blood draw and centrifuge run while you wait.

  5. Injection

Needle or blunt tipped cannula depending on the agent and area, after topical numbing.

  6. Aftercare instruction

Sculptra patients leave with a specific massage schedule, described below. It is not optional.

  7. Interval review

Progress is assessed at each session against your baseline photos and the plan adjusted, rather than repeated on autopilot.

What to expect, Biostimulation

What to Expect

01 / Before your appointment

Before your appointment

Where medically appropriate, skip alcohol for 24 hours and blood thinning supplements for several days. Eat beforehand and arrive well hydrated, which makes the PRFM blood draw easier.

02 / During

During

You are upright and awake, with topical numbing applied first. PRFM visits include the draw and the centrifuge run while you wait.

03 / The first few days

The first few days

Sculptra and hyperdilute Radiesse produce swelling that can briefly look like a result. It is fluid, not collagen. PRFM causes localized swelling, most noticeable under the eyes, that settles over 2 to 3 days. Bruising is possible at any injection point. Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, and alcohol for 24 to 48 hours.

04 / The Sculptra massage protocol

The Sculptra massage protocol

After Sculptra you massage the treated areas at home on the schedule your provider gives you. The common convention is five minutes at a time, five times a day, for five days, though protocols vary and your provider gives you the exact instruction. Massage keeps the product evenly dispersed while it settles, which lowers the chance of it clumping into a palpable nodule. This step is the patient's job and it affects the outcome.

05 / Weeks 1 to 4

Weeks 1 to 4

Usually nothing visible. This is where patients get discouraged. Nothing has failed.

06 / Weeks 6 to 12 and beyond

Weeks 6 to 12 and beyond

New collagen registers as firmer, thicker feeling skin and better light reflection, and it keeps building through month 6. Compare against your baseline photos, not your memory.

07 / Maintenance

Maintenance

Sculptra is commonly reported to last up to about two years, hyperdilute Radiesse about a year, and PRFM shorter with periodic maintenance. Duration varies with age, health, and sessions completed.

ServicePrice
Sculptra per vial, or package of 3 treatments for $3,200 covering 5 vials$750
Hyperdilute Radiesse per syringe, or package of 3 for $3,200$850
PRFM facial injections, single tube. $650 per additional tube$850
PRFM hair restoration per treatment, or package of 3 for $1,500 to $3,700$599 to $1,399

Why hair restoration is a range. The price reflects how much scalp is treated and how many tubes are processed, and your provider quotes your figure at consultation.

What is included. Consultation, product preparation or blood processing, treatment, photographs, and written aftercare.

What is not included. Additional vials, syringes, or tubes beyond your planned series, and other modalities such as neurotoxins or resurfacing, priced separately.

Packages assume a completed series. Because the premise is cumulative, packages are the sensible way to buy here. Ask how a partial series is handled before you purchase.

Prices are subject to change and this page is not inclusive of all services, products, and discounts. See the full price list.

Fit, limits, and risk

Safety, Candidacy, and Honest Limits

  1. Sculptra and nodules

The known risk with poly L lactic acid is papules and nodules, small firm collections of collagen that form when product is unevenly distributed or placed too superficially. Most are palpable rather than visible, and they can appear months after treatment. The risk is reduced by adequate dilution and hydration time, correct depth, conservative volume, and your at home massage, but it is not zero, and it is why Sculptra is not injected into the lips or eyelid area. If you feel a lump, come in rather than waiting.

  2. Neither Sculptra nor Radiesse is reversible

Hyaluronidase dissolves hyaluronic acid filler and does nothing to poly L lactic acid or calcium hydroxylapatite. Both resolve on their own timeline instead, which argues for conservative dosing and proper spacing rather than rushing a series.

  3. PRFM hair restoration, realistically

This works best on thinning hair where follicles are still alive and producing finer, weaker hairs. It does not create new follicles, and scalp bald for years generally has none left to stimulate. Good candidates have early to moderate thinning, miniaturized hairs, or widening part lines. Treatment is a series, commonly three sessions about a month apart, then maintenance at intervals your provider sets. Results vary considerably, some patients see little or no change, and no outcome is guaranteed. If a medical cause is suspected, investigate it through lab testing or hormone optimization first.

  4. You should not be treated if you

are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active infection or inflamed skin at the site, or have a known allergy to a component of the product used. PRFM is additionally inappropriate with a platelet or bleeding disorder, an active blood borne infection, or another blood condition making the preparation unsuitable.

  5. Tell your provider if you

have an autoimmune condition, a history of keloid scarring, a bleeding disorder or take an anticoagulant, a history of nodules or granulomas from a previous injectable, permanent filler in the treatment area, or upcoming dental work or vaccination.

Results vary. Age, health, collagen response, sessions completed, and aftercare all influence the outcome.

Why this practice

Why Patients Choose LouWellSpa for Biostimulation

  1. We set the timeline before you pay

You are told to expect nothing at four weeks. Patients who understand the curve are the ones satisfied at month four.

  2. Photographs at every interval,

because gradual change is invisible in a mirror you look into daily.

  3. Three agents, sorted by problem

We use the one your tissue calls for, not the one on promotion, and we decline frankly when a series will not do anything, particularly with hair.

  4. The internal side is in the same suite

The WELL house handles lab testing, hormone optimization, and medical weight loss. Collagen production, hair cycling, and skin quality sit downstream of thyroid function, iron, hormones, and nutrition, and treating the outside while ignoring the inside is a common reason a series underperforms.

Questions, answered plainly

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Sculptra cost at LouWellSpa?

Sculptra is $750 per vial, or $3,200 for a package of three treatments covering five vials. How many vials your plan calls for depends on how much area is being treated and how much volume has been lost, and that number is set at consultation. Because this category works cumulatively, most patients are quoted for a full series rather than a single session, and you receive the total before the first appointment.

Plan on seeing nothing meaningful for the first month. Visible change commonly begins around weeks 6 to 8 and continues building through months 3 to 6 as new collagen forms. Any swelling in the first few days is fluid, not result, and it will subside. This slow curve is the normal behavior of the treatment, not a sign that it has failed, and it is why baseline photographs matter so much here.

A filler is a gel that occupies space, so it produces an immediate, visible, and reversible change in shape. A biostimulator adds almost no volume of its own and instead triggers your body to produce collagen over the following weeks and months. Filler is the right tool for a defined hollow or a specific contour. Biostimulation is the right tool for diffuse thinning, crepiness, and overall skin quality across a larger area.

Most plans run three sessions, spaced roughly 4 to 6 weeks apart, though the number depends on the agent, the area, and how much change you are after. Some patients need more, and patients with more advanced volume loss usually do. Your provider sets the series at consultation and reassesses at each visit against your photographs rather than simply completing a preset count.

PRFM is prepared from your own blood.

No. Hyaluronidase reverses hyaluronic acid fillers only, and it has no effect on poly L lactic acid or calcium hydroxylapatite. Both biostimulators break down on their own schedule instead, generally over one to two years. This irreversibility is exactly why sessions are dosed conservatively and spaced properly, and why we would rather do a fourth session than overtreat at the second.

Massage keeps the injected particles evenly dispersed through the tissue while they settle, which lowers the chance that they clump and form a palpable nodule. The common convention is five minutes at a time, five times a day, for five days, but your provider will give you the exact schedule for your treatment. It is the one part of this treatment that is entirely in your hands, and skipping it raises a risk you would rather not take.

The neck, chest, upper arms, abdomen, and knees are the areas hyperdilution is most often used for, because the complaint there is usually thin, crepey, loosening skin rather than lost shape. Diluted product is spread through a broad plane to encourage collagen and elastin production without adding contour. As with the face, change is gradual over months and the degree of improvement varies from patient to patient.

Not on scalp that has been fully bald for years, because the treatment stimulates existing follicles rather than creating new ones. It is best suited to thinning areas where miniaturized hairs are still present, such as a widening part or early to moderate loss. Results vary considerably, some patients see little change, and no outcome is guaranteed. Candidacy is assessed in person, and an underlying medical cause should be ruled out first.

Usually one to three tubes, depending on the treatment area, drawn the same way as a routine lab. The draw itself takes a minute or two and feels like any blood test. Processing runs while you wait, which is why PRFM appointments are longer than the other treatments on this page. Tell your provider if you have a history of feeling faint during blood draws so you can be positioned accordingly.

Yes, and combining them is common, because they solve different problems. Neurotoxin handles movement lines, filler handles defined volume, and biostimulation handles overall tissue quality. The sequencing and spacing depend on which areas overlap, and energy based or resurfacing treatments are usually scheduled with a gap around injectable sessions. Your provider builds the order into a single plan rather than treating each in isolation.

Sculptra results are commonly reported to last up to about two years after a completed series, hyperdilute Radiesse about a year, and PRFM a shorter period with periodic maintenance. These are typical ranges, not commitments. Duration depends on your age, general health, how many sessions you completed, and how well your tissue produces and retains collagen, so individual outcomes differ significantly.
